About this book
This edition of the Dao De Jing brings together the classical Chinese text, the minimalist language Toki Pona and the constructed script sitelen pona.
The book begins with an English foreword and a compact chapter-by-chapter guide. It explains how key ideas around Dao and De are mapped into Toki Pona, why certain words and images were chosen, and how to read the pairing of Chinese text and sitelen pona that follows.
The main body of the book is built as a sequence of visual plates. Each chapter appears across a two-page spread: the original Chinese text on the left, and a Toki Pona translation intended for visual reading in sitelen pona on the right.
There is no heavy commentary in the main plate sequence. Instead, the book creates a quiet dialogue between two compact writing systems: one ancient, one constructed; one classical, one minimalist; both capable of carrying philosophical ambiguity through form.
This edition is intended for readers of the Dao De Jing, students of Toki Pona, lovers of calligraphy and scripts, and anyone interested in experimental book design as a way of thinking.
