I somehow ended up publishing two books within a few days. They could hardly be more different, which is probably why I enjoy seeing them next to each other.
Fragments from a Therapist’s Notebook
Fragments from a Therapist’s Notebook is the more personal of the two. It is built from short psychological observations rather than one continuous argument, and it moves through trauma, identity, relationships, anxiety, and the ways people explain themselves to themselves.

Burgers, Lipstick & Underwear
Burgers, Lipstick & Underwear sits much closer to business and economics, but I wrote it as curious popular nonfiction rather than a technical book. It looks at the strange proxies people use to make large systems legible — burgers, lipstick, underwear, working time, freight, pollution equivalents, benchmarks — and asks when an indicator really reveals something and when it turns into folklore, oversimplification, or something people learn to game.

One book comes out of psychology and observation. The other comes out of markets, business, and measurement. They sit at opposite ends of my interests, which is exactly why I wanted both of them to exist.
