This is my personal website. My name is Anton Biletskyi-Volokh.
For a long time, this site has mainly carried my professional writing from Medium and Substack: applied AI, the creative economy, systems, tools, and related things.
I still write about them. They are an important part of my work.
But they are not my whole life.
I also write books that have nothing to do with AI. Some are fiction. Some are my translations of fiction. You can find them in the books section of this site.
But a book card does not explain how a book came to exist. It does not say why I wrote it, translated it, abandoned it for a while, or came back to it later.
There is more outside work, too.
I have a family and children. I visit museums, exhibitions, strange concepts, and places that are hard to classify. I collect small discoveries that do not belong in a professional newsletter.
I am also an actively exhibiting artist.
So where should I write about all this?
Facebook and Instagram used to be personal places for me. Much of my audience there is Ukrainian: some people are still in Ukraine, while others, like me, now live in many different countries.
I live in Nantes, France.
Over time, I stopped posting much in those personal social networks.
LinkedIn is professional by design. Medium and Substack are also built around a subject, an audience, and a format.
This blog is for the rest.
There are no likes, dislikes, or comments here.
I will write what I want, in the form I want.
You are welcome to read it, or not read it.
These are notes for other people, perhaps. But first of all, they are notes for me.
I may write about a book, a museum visit, a family trip, something I cooked, a painting, an idea that did not become a project, or an object I found somewhere in Nantes.
I may also write a shopping list so I do not forget it at the supermarket.
For example:
- Brut cider — 1 bottle
- Chilled croque-monsieur — 2
- Pork nems — 2 packs
- Sweet-and-sour gherkins — 1 jar
- Soy sauce — 1 bottle
- Eggs — 1 dozen
That is enough of a manifesto for now.
