Apparently, Unitree decided that the best way to introduce its new humanoid robot was to make an action movie. And honestly, I'm not complaining. Meet Unitree H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian, a humanoid robot that looks like it walked straight out of a sci-fi blockbuster. In the official demonstration, it: Punches and kicks car doors, leaving visible damage Performs backflips and martial arts moves Jumps from a 4-meter-high platform Confronts an armed attacker in a staged security scenario Pushes a mannequin away from an approaching car Lifts the front of a vehicle in a simulated rescue operation Yes, apparently, robot bodyguards now come with their own stunt choreography. And Unitree claims up to 8 hours of endurance. There's a catch, though. That figure refers to standing endurance, not eight hours of continuous kung fu. The company also hasn't explained whether these impressive moves were performed autonomously, remotely controlled, or through preprogrammed sequences. So while the hardware looks extraordinary, we're not quite at the point where you can hire a robot to independently handle your personal security. And I have to admit, the rescue scene raised a few questions. I'm not entirely sure the mannequin survived the robot's rescue attempt any better than the approaching car. But my favorite part? After showing us a humanoid machine smashing cars, jumping four meters, and fighting attackers, Unitree ends with a friendly reminder: Please use the robot safely and in a friendly manner. Of course. What could possibly go wrong?
