Apparently, CapCut couldn't just sit back and watch creators automate their video editing workflows with Claude Code and DaVinci Resolve.
So now CapCut is coming directly to ChatGPT.
Announced at CapCut World LA on October 24, 2026, the new integration lets creators edit videos using natural language instead of manually doing everything on a timeline.
And the demonstration looks pretty interesting.
Here's how it works:
Upload your footage: Give ChatGPT your video clips and explain what you want.
Describe the edit: Ask for a fast-paced highlight reel, specific transitions, or a particular visual style.
Generate a first cut: CapCut helps assemble your footage into an editable timeline.
Make changes through chat: Ask for titles, captions, different timing, or other adjustments.
Keep creative control: Continue refining the project in CapCut.
No need to manually arrange every single clip just to get a first draft.
And here's another interesting detail.
Among the people involved in the announcement was Sam Yam, OpenAI's Head of Creator Product and former Patreon co-founder and CTO.
Which makes me think this is probably just the beginning.
We're already seeing AI agents write code, generate animations, and automate increasingly complex creative workflows.
Now professional video editing is becoming another area where natural language can replace part of the traditional interface.
CapCut's new ChatGPT integration is expected to enter open beta in November 2026, across mobile, desktop, and web.
Pricing and regional availability haven't been fully announced yet.
Meanwhile, there's another interesting development for video creators.
Blackmagic Design just launched a rare 20% discount on DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.
Regular price: $295
Sale price: $236
You save: $59
Offer ends: November 20, 2026
And unlike most professional editing software, DaVinci Resolve Studio uses a one-time purchase model instead of a recurring subscription.
You get professional editing, color grading, Fusion motion graphics, Fairlight audio tools, and powerful AI features.
Personally, I find both developments fascinating.
On one side, AI is becoming part of the video editor.
On the other, creators are using coding agents to automate workflows around existing professional tools.
The real question isn't whether AI will change video editing.
It's how much of the timeline we'll still be editing manually in a couple of years.
