Here's something most people watching this channel probably don't know about me. I spent 12 years of my life working in augmented and virtual reality. Not as a developer. Pretty much everything else you can imagine doing while running an AR/VR development studio. And I absolutely loved it. Actually, I still do. I've been waiting for years for AR and VR to finally take the next big leap. Not necessarily in software or the underlying technology, but in hardware. Because the biggest problem with mixed reality has never been a shortage of ideas. It's been finding hardware you'd actually want to wear. Then I came across this video. Someone had vibe-coded a snapshot application for their Pico XR headset. Nothing revolutionary, perhaps. Just a developer using modern AI coding tools to build something for mixed reality. But watching it triggered something I hadn't felt in quite a while. That overwhelming urge to start building things in XR again. I still have plenty of ideas gathering digital dust in the deepest corners of my Google Drive. Projects I wanted to build years ago. Experiments. Interactive environments. Things that never quite made it beyond the concept stage. And now we have something we didn't have back then. Powerful AI coding agents that can turn ideas into working software without requiring you to master the sacred runes of programming. Claude Code, Codex, and other agentic development tools have dramatically lowered the barrier to building software. For someone like me, who spent years creating technology products without being a hands-on programmer, that's a pretty exciting development. But there's still one problem. I don't want to build these experiences for another bulky, uncomfortable headset. And the lighter alternatives often come with compromises in performance, capabilities, or the actual mixed reality experience. What I really want is something I've been waiting for since roughly 2016. Powerful, lightweight, portable mixed reality glasses. Something you can wear comfortably, take anywhere, and use to create and explore experiences beyond a flat screen. And here we are, almost a decade later. Still waiting. AI has made building immersive software easier than ever. Now I just need the hardware to catch up. Come on, XR industry. Give us the glasses already. I have a decade's worth of ideas waiting to get out of Google Drive. #MixedReality #VirtualReality #AugmentedReality #PicoVR #VibeCoding #AIAgents #XRDevelopment
