What if you could take a picture of an everyday object and instantly see what's inside? Not with an X-ray. Not by physically taking it apart. Just one photo and generative AI. Meet Liquid Photos, an experimental AI-powered visual interface originally developed at AXL Venture Studio by Sasha Ivanov and his team. And the demonstration looks absolutely fascinating. Here's the idea. Take a photo of a camera, watch, game controller, or another everyday object. The AI analyzes the image and generates an interactive exploded view, visually separating the object into its individual components. Imagine being able to: Explore the apparent internal structure of everyday objects. Pull components apart through an interactive interface. Examine how different parts fit together. Transform ordinary photographs into visual explanations. Explore products without manually creating detailed 3D models. And here's what makes it particularly interesting. The system doesn't simply display a static AI-generated image. It's part of a broader approach to interactive generative media, where photographs become experiences you can manipulate and explore. Of course, there's an important limitation. AI-generated exploded views aren't necessarily accurate engineering reconstructions. The model can infer what might be inside an object, but the actual components and their arrangement may differ from reality. Still, imagine the possibilities for education, product design, technical illustrations, e-commerce, and interactive storytelling. Instead of reading a complicated explanation of how something works, you could explore a visual representation yourself. We're moving from AI that generates pictures to AI that makes pictures interactive. And I find that a considerably more interesting direction. The project has since evolved into Liquid Interactive, with Liquid Photos available for early access.
