A rooftop becomes a canvas: explore Pokras Lampas’s 177 m² calligraphy work at the Barkli DAN residence in Kazan. This short art film combines aerial footage, moving photographs, English narration and an original electronic soundtrack. The artist brings contemporary Cyrillic calligraphy into conversation with architecture and Tatar cultural heritage. Six words express three ideas: glory, writing and inspiration. Concentric bands of blue, black and white turn the roof into a composition that changes as the camera moves from its geometric whole to the detail of individual letters. According to the artist’s statement supplied for this film: • 177 square metres of calligraphy • 15 metres in diameter • Three months of preparation • Fourteen days of painting ARTWORK Artist: Pokras Lampas Location: Barkli DAN residence, Kazan Project acknowledgement in the supplied statement: the Barkli team and Leonid Kazinets. A separate six-second radial animation is an original visual interlude created for this film with p5.js, rather than part of the mural. English narration uses local Supertonic 3; the original instrumental score was composed with Tone.js. The source-video sound was removed. Artwork and source media remain the work of their respective creators. Project facts are drawn from the supplied artist statement.
