Sometimes AI feels less like technology and more like a magician that can take you straight back to childhood. Let me tell you a story. I was eight years old when I got my first PlayStation. It was New Year's Eve. I opened the box and couldn't believe my eyes. A PlayStation One. A completely unexpected gift. And something I'd wanted more than almost anything in the world. The next morning, January 1st, snow was falling outside. I was sitting on a patterned carpet, putting my very first game disc into my brand-new console. Sheep, Dog 'n' Wolf. A wonderfully ridiculous game featuring Ralph Wolf, Sam Sheepdog, Looney Tunes humor, clever puzzles, and occasionally infuriating challenges. I loved it. Fast-forward to November 2, 2026. Me. OpenAI Codex. GPT-6 Astra. And one little experiment. What if I could bring that exact childhood experience back to life on my Mac? Well, apparently, modern AI coding agents can do quite a lot in 90 minutes. Here's what Codex accomplished: Found the original Windows version of Sheep, Dog 'n' Wolf. Created a Mac port so I could run the game on my computer. Improved the graphics with antialiasing, resolution adjustments, and lighting enhancements. Translated the game into Russian, including a custom-generated language selection screen. Created Russian voice acting for the entire game using Gemini TTS. Added a little Easter egg: A sign in the starting area promoting my YouTube channel. Yes, that sign you can see in the screencast. And the whole thing took approximately an hour and a half. Not weeks. Not months. Ninety minutes. Of course, this wasn't a complete remake built from scratch. It was an AI-assisted port and enhancement of the original game. But that's precisely what makes it so special. I wasn't trying to create something new. I wanted to experience something old again. The same characters. The same absurd humor. The same puzzles. Just running on my Mac, with better visuals and a language I could choose. And suddenly, for a little while, I was that eight-year-old kid sitting on the carpet again. I spend a lot of time experimenting with AI coding agents, automation, creative tools, and new technologies. But every now and then, one of those experiments reminds me why I fell in love with computers in the first place. Not because of productivity. Not because of benchmarks. Not because of how many tokens a model can process. Because sometimes a computer can do something that feels like magic. And on November 2, 2026, Codex gave me back a tiny piece of my childhood. A magician suddenly appeared in my Codex window. And for once, I didn't ask it to write another line of business software. #OpenAICodex #GPT6 #PlayStation1 #SheepDogNWolf #RetroGaming #VibeCoding #GamePreservation
