Someone built a Claude Code skill that turns real-world roads into retro pixel-art adventures. And I have absolutely no idea why I love this so much. Meet Pixel Path, an open-source Claude Code skill that transforms any road trip into an interactive, first-person pixel-art experience. Just give Claude two locations. For example: "Make me a pixel path from Paris to Versailles." And watch what happens. Here's how it works: Real roads: Uses OpenStreetMap to calculate the actual route. Real buildings: Recreates buildings and landmarks based on their geographic locations. Real landscapes: Uses elevation data to generate hills, forests, water, and the surrounding terrain. AI-generated pixel art: RetroDiffusion creates the visual assets. Interactive driving: Travel along the route, adjust your speed, pause, or reverse. Browser-based experience: The finished world runs as a lightweight web page. The result feels like someone combined Google Maps with an old-school arcade driving game. Except the streets are real. And here's another interesting detail. You can choose different levels of visual detail, from free placeholder graphics to more elaborate AI-generated scenery. The skill itself is free and open source. Generating custom pixel-art assets through RetroDiffusion requires paid API credits. Install Pixel Path in Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add jonwheatley/pixel-path /plugin install pixel-path@pixel-path Then ask Claude to create a pixel-art journey between any two places. Is this going to revolutionize transportation? Probably not. Do we desperately need an AI agent turning our daily commute into a 1990s driving game? Also probably not. But apparently, if someone vibe-coded it, someone somewhere must have needed it. And sometimes that's all the justification a creative project needs.
