Well, I guess it's time to uninstall Hermes Desktop and move back into the terminal. Hermes Agent v0.23.0 just added native inline image rendering. And honestly, this is exactly the kind of small improvement that makes terminal-based AI agents much more enjoyable to use. Here's what's new: Inline images: Pictures appear directly inside the terminal conversation instead of showing file paths. AI-generated visuals: See images produced by your agent without opening another application. Computer Use screenshots: Inspect screenshots captured by your AI tools right in the conversation. Image attachments: Paste or attach images and see them alongside your messages. Full-color rendering: Supported terminals display actual images rather than ASCII approximations. Terminal support includes: Ghostty and Kitty: Native image rendering in CLI and TUI. iTerm2, WezTerm, and Konsole: Inline images in the classic CLI. VS Code terminal: Full-resolution images when terminal image support is enabled. Other terminals: Colorful Unicode block rendering as a fallback. And there's more in the Hermes Agent 0.23.0 Hearth Release, including /rewind, shared conversation gateways, browser access, and improved multi-agent workflows. But for me, the inline images are a particularly welcome addition. Because sometimes I don't want another desktop application. I just want my terminal to do everything. Code? Terminal. AI agents? Terminal. Screenshots? Terminal. At this rate, the only remaining reason to leave the terminal will be remembering what sunlight looks like.
