This is currently one of the smallest sections of the catalogue.

For now, it contains only one book.

But the idea behind the section is broader.

I want it to become a place for practical guides, visual references and compact decision tools: books designed less for continuous reading and more for situations where you need to understand something quickly and use it in the real world.

French Road Rules and Signs in Ukrainian

The first book in this category is a Ukrainian-language guide to French road rules and road signs.

It was created for a very practical reason.

Many Ukrainians have moved to France, travel there regularly, rent cars, drive across the country or eventually need to adapt to a road system that is similar to the one they already know, but not identical.

Most road signs are understandable intuitively.

Some are not.

Rules around parking, priorities, speed limits, low-emission zones, road markings, toll roads and local restrictions can also differ from what a Ukrainian driver expects.

The purpose of the book is not to replace the official French driving code or preparation for a formal driving examination.

It is a practical first introduction and reference.

Something you can read before driving in France for the first time, keep nearby for unfamiliar situations, or use to understand the most important differences without working through a large French-language legal manual.

The fact that the guide is in Ukrainian matters.

When someone is already adapting to a new country, learning new rules and perhaps learning French at the same time, there is little value in adding another unnecessary language barrier.

Books made to be used

This is also the principle I want to apply to the broader category.

Not every useful book needs to be an essay, a narrative or a comprehensive textbook.

Sometimes what is needed is:

a map,

a visual reference,

a checklist,

a short handbook,

a field guide,

a comparison table,

or a structured answer to a very specific practical problem.

These books may be narrow.

That is not a disadvantage.

A good reference guide can solve one problem extremely well and have no reason to become anything larger.

A category that will grow

At the moment, one title does not yet define the category.

That is fine.

I expect Practical Guides & Reference to expand over time as suitable projects appear.

Some existing books elsewhere in the catalogue could arguably fit here already, especially technical handbooks and highly practical business guides. For now, however, I prefer to keep the categories based on the context in which the books were originally created rather than reorganising them simply to make this section look larger.

New publications will gradually give this section a clearer identity.

The principle is already simple enough:

books designed to help someone do, understand or decide something in a real situation.
